I’ve decided to put the art deco movie theater on hold for a bit because I need to order some supplies that I just can’t find at my local hobby store.
In the meantime, I’ve started the basic Walther’s kit for Al’s Victory Service. This typical gas station looks like a pretty well-crafted kit, but I think I can do some kitbashing here and turn it into a Mobil station.
I have a couple of different options here — either add the prototypical Mobil “barrel” front — or maybe add a canopy with rotating pegasus logo on the roof.
For now, I’m going to work on getting some of the basic assembly together and will post pictures soon.
So far, I’ve simply removed the pieces from the spues, cleaned them up and filled some molding pin holes with green putty.
There have been rumors floating around the Web on forums and blogs about highrise kits soon to be released from Custom Model Railroads – in N scale!
While this hasn’t been officially announced by CMR, I did e-mail them and receive confirmation that N scale urban kits similar to the city structure above (shown in HO scale) are in development and will be released soon. Based on what I’ve read and the short e-mail I got back from CMR, I would keep a look out of these in the next month or two.
Note, the CMR HO structures are used on rocker Rod Stewart’s HO layout as featured in the December 2007, Model Railroader magazine.
Also, if the N scale kits are similar to the HO versions by CMR, these should be made to be combined into even taller buildings. Think of all the possibilities!
This video is NOT the modeling work of the N Scale Modeling site author. It is the excellent work of David K. Smith on this N scale White River and Northern.
