About N Scale Modeling

This blog is a journey in N gauge model railroading — an ongoing effort to push the boundaries and limitations of working in 1:160 scale.

At this stage of the game, I’m focusing primarily on structures — commercial model kits, kit bashed and stratch built.

While model trains are obviously an important part of this hobby, I’m a firm believer in focusing on the enviornment the trains run through first and foremost.  The model enviornment is really what paints the picture of era, geography and mood and gives the trains the realism them need.

I am working toward an ubran Pennsylvania Railroad and New York Central layout set outside of New York City in the post-war 1940s — likely 1947.

As I progress through this, I’ll post any information, tips or turtorials that may help another N scale modeler. While relatively new to model railroading, I’ve been building scale models for a long time.  I’m hoping that I can bring my experience from other model building to model railroading and be able to provide a new perspective on this hobby — especially to N scale.

Also, because of my profession, I’m an expert in Adobe Photoshop — so as I create original works (signs, billboards, etc), I plan make those freely available to readers here.  So check back for those as they become available.
